With Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro looking set to follow Joe Widdowson to Rochdale and Rochdale and Peter Sweeney due to sign a two year deal for Bury at Gigg lane today; it looks like 6 out and six in. However despite the numerical balance Woods is also looking to add another two to three players.

The Codfather has of course already strengthened the squad with 6 summer signings, namely Lee Ridley, Michael Coulson, Lewis Gobern, Darran Kempson, Micky Cummins and goalkeeper Kenny Arthur. Five had been long term targets whilst the Riddler was necessitated with Widdowson moving on last week.

Few would argue however that we are better off before Woods adds another two to three players to the squad. Nathan Jarman and Adam ‘The pouncing paunch` Proudlock will not be missed up front having parted from the club by mutual consent. Jarman refreshingly seems to be spending a lot less time discussing his career on Face book. Paul Linwood was another result from financial heaven yesterday with Fleetwood Town taking over his wages. They are flashing some cash at that club this year.

Mind you we can talk having offered Bishop a three year deal and a whopping signing on fee earlier this month. Woods has said one of his long term targets was set to take a while. Fair enough big C, land him and Pontoon Pat will eat his seat – although Fenty will have to buy the Tartar sauce and Guinness to ease that down.

Neil Wood`s does not appear to have a problem working with the four lads on the list that turned up to training today. In fairness form, wages, contract clauses and location all play a part in Neil`s thinking when he placed them on the list. It would be unfair to say who`s who but it is not rocket science.

Woods needed to improve the team and he has done so thus far on paper. However to really get those season ticket sales rocketing we need a headline striker to share the load with Coulson and no doubt Peacock. The midfield is looking really, well Rotherham but useful. We look strong all the way down the middle and the chances are we can justify the faith.

This from Woodsie in The Telegraph and the Blue Square bet Website was heart-warming.

‘The signings show the type of player we are trying to get?.. League clubs have been after the players we have managed to get??… It shows their pedigree and how well they are thought of in football?? It is also a reflection on our club and the supporters??.The impact they had at the end of the season and the numbers that attended games showed the support we have here?..I think that’s played a big part in attracting the players we have??.I hope the players are excited to come and work with me but also I think they realise the club has enormous potential??..We know what numbers we can attract if we get the right team together.’

Day one on the road to Blundell bouncing back then Woodsie.

Keep the faith – in Cod we Trust.
