Due to unforeseen injury problems Alan Buckley could be forced to bring in some youngsters to travel to Rochdale on Saturday.

Paul Bolland, Danny North, Peter Bore, James Hunt, Rob Atkinson and Ciaran Toner have all picked up knocks and are all doubtful ahead of the vital trip to 7th place Rochdale in a must win game for the Mariners who are 10 points behind.

This could mean Andy Taylor could be making a start upfront with Martin Butler and Matthew Bird could be on the bench and should he play any part of the game, he will be making his first senior appearance.

Nathan Jarman will also be an option for Buckley. Jarman scored two goals against Sheffield United for the reserves earlier this week.

Alan Buckley told Mariners World: ‘We might be enforced into giving a few of the young/ fringe players a go on Saturday,’

‘This time last year we had got ourselves safe very quickly and I could introduce Ryan (Bennett) into the team.

‘I might decide to look at Andy (Taylor), young Birdy’s done okay, I might decide to look at him. He only signed professional two weeks ago but he’s got all the physical attributes. At least we’ve got one or two more two look at.’
