Grimsby have reportedly started negotiations with the agent of former Reading player Bas Savage. Slade is hoping to attract the 23 year old striker to Blundell Park. The player has already had a trial spell at Coventry but has now joined up with Grimsby and played for the reserves against Scunthorpe. Savage is a free agent and Slade is keen to add to his squad in an attempt to keep up the momentum of an impressive start to the season.
The manager is telling his players that they must keep up their winning ways against promotion rivals Wycombe this weekend. ‘We need to build on the Macclesfield win and winning at Wycombe would be the ideal place to begin. We will go there level on points with them, so the incentive to win is huge.’
