Chris Casper has decided against continuing as the Mariners Assistant manager. The former Gigg Lane gaffer leaves the club officially today and it is thought that the desire to run his own ship was a central part of the decision making process and something that Neil Woods had been expecting for a while. Ex Lincoln City and Norwich man John Deehan, a mate of Woods is a favourite to take over

Chris replaced Brian Stein in December with the contract elapsing at the end of the season (normally contractually timed as 30th June). He was a noticeable omission at the first day of training yesterday and his trips back to the North West on scouting trips appear to have made him home sick.

Neil Woods will hopefully announce his successor shortly and Vital Towers would like to wish Chris all the best in his new role.
