Grimsby Town are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Chris Clements in the three nil victory over Mansfield Town at the weekend at Blundell Park was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Clements was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Mansfield’s nine-game unbeaten run in Sky Bet League Two came to an end at the hands of Grimsby with Clements, a former stag, setting the ball rolling. The midfielder was one many Mariners to impress, with Callum Dyson also worthy of a mention after his first two professional goals.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Clements for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.

Full Team:

Matt Gilks (Wigan Athletic), Cian Bolger (Fleetwood Town), Tin Plavotic (Cheltenham Town), Jorge Teixeira (Charlton Athletic), Kadeem Harris (Cardiff City), Piero Mingoia (Cambridge United), Chris Clements (Grimsby Town), Reggie Lambe (Carlisle United), Sam Baldock (Brighton), Jon Stead (Notts County), Paul Mullin (Morecambe).
