Grimsby defender Tony Crane has been told he can leave in order to gain first team football. Having signed for Grimsby from The Owls two years ago, and being an almost ever present in the 2003/4 season, the 23 year old has found himself slipping out of contention for regular football at Blundell Park.

Russell Slade has decided to allow him to move on as his contract expires at the end of the season and the Mariners aren’t wanting to extend his stay.

Slade said: ‘Tony needs to be playing football and is looking for a move to further his career. There has been a bit of interest – York were one of the clubs, but I am not sure if they are still interested.’
