Grimsby Town are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Omar Bogle in the three nil victory over Plymouth Argule at the weekend at Home Park was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Bogle was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘The EFL’s Result of the Day was inspired by Bogle, who bagged a brace for Grimsby Town in a 3-0 win at Sky Bet League Two leaders Plymouth Argyle. The front man headed the Mariners’ second just after the hour, and slid in his 13th goal of the campaign to round off an emphatic triumph.’

Manager Marcus Bignot was also named as manager of the team of the week owing to the overall performance, and they said of him.

‘There were plenty of managers in the running for the Manager of the Week honour, including Ian Holloway and Steve Evans who made winning starts at their new clubs. But Bignot gets the nod, claiming his first three points as an EFL manager in some style. Away at the division’s runaway leaders, who were 14 undefeated, and coming away with a 3-0 win – not a bad day at the office.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to both for their recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.
