Grimsby won their second game in a row when the Mariners defeated the Millers 3-0 at Blundell Park this afternoon.

Widdowson, Sinclair and Elliott remained in the line-up to make their home debuts has Mike Newell started with the same eleven that beat Wycombe 1-0.

Former Mariner Nick Fenton made Rotherham`s starting line-up on his first return to Blundell Park since leaving the club last summer.

Rotherham started the game well and came close to taking an early lead when Danny Harrison headed over the bar.

Rotherham won a free-kick after a foul by Sinclair on Hudson. Hudson took the kick and it was met with an header from Fenton but did not trouble Town`s keeper, Phillip Barnes.

The first yellow card was shown to Andy Nicholas for a foul on Nathan Jarman. Jamie Clarke took the free-kick and it was met with a powerful header from Jarman but was saved by the Millers keeper, Andy warrington.

Then the game slowed down with both teams playing the ball in the middle and not many chances created.

Rotherham looked to try and get a goal to tke the lead but Ryan Taylor`s shot was comfortably saved by Barnes.

Deep in stoppage time, the Mariners, nearly took the lead when Adam Proudlock tried a low shot from 25 yards but the ball hit the post.

Rotherham made a change at half-time with Mark Burcjill coming on for Nicholas.

Danny Harrison sent a shot for Rotherham over the bar before the Mariners had a chance at the other end but Jamie Clarke`s volley was caught by Warrington.

Town then took the lead on 58 minutes when Widdowson shot low and into the far corner to make it 1-0.

Rotherham made their second change a few minutes later when an injury forced Jamie Green to be replaced by Marc Joseph.

The Mariners then made it 2-0 when a foul by Ian Sharps on Proudlock seen a penalty awarded. Proudlock took the kick and sent it into the bottom-left of the goal.

Grimsby then made their first change with Nathan Jarman being replaced by Peter Bore.

Ian Sharps was then booked for a foul on Akpa Akpro. Sinclair took the free-kick and Ryan Bennett got a shot in but missed the target and the ball went out for a goal-kick.

With less than ten minutes of ninety remaining Town were looking to hang on to a 2-0 lead but then came the Mariners third goal. Sinclair managed to slot the ball past Warrington to put Grimsby in to a 3-0 lead.

Has the game approached the final few minutes, Grimsby made a change, Kalala came off to be replaced by Llewellyn.

Neither side really created anything in the final minutes before the ref`s whistle brought an end to a game which sees the Mariners keep their second consecutive clean sheet and second consecutive win.

Town will hope for a similar result when Dagenham & Redbirdge visit Blundell Park on Tuesday night.
