Grimsby Town are having no further luck in their efforts to bolster their squad in the january transfer window, having signed Serge Makofo from Kettering last wednesday.

After an apparent rebuff from Mansfield’s Rob Duffy yesterday, Cambridge United have this afternoon rejected a second, improved offer from Grimsby Town for winger Robbie Willmott.

The Mariners had increased their bid for the player, after their original five-figure offer was turned down last Thursday.

Manager Martin Ling told the Cambridge Evening News, ‘They’ve come back to us with a better offer, but it still doesn’t meet our valuation.
Robbie is in no rush to go anywhere, but if it’s a career move that suits him, us and the club he’s going to, it will probably happen’.
