Grimsby Town Ladies started their season on Sunday against Lincoln Griffins and got off to the perfect start has they beat Lincoln Griffins 6-0.

From the start the Mariners were on top and took the lead after just 8 minutes, Gemma Hopkin beat the offside trap to run forward and shoot into the bottom left of the goal.

Town kept up the pressure and had a few more shots in the first half from Emily Mumby and Lyndsey Dye, with both being just inches away from scoring, both had received the ball from Hopkin.

Town put more pressure on Lincoln and added their second on 51 minutes after Ashton put ball in the net after a goal mouth scramble.

After the goal it was all Grimsby and the third goal arrived when Hopkin and Mumby had linked up well and Hopkin scored.

Own got their fourth on 76 minutes when a free kick was taken on the edge of the area by Mumby, she put it over the wall and into the net.

4 Minutes later Town got their fifth when Hannah Taylor scored from a cross and in the final minutes of the game Mumby scored her second and made it 6-0 to Town.
