According to the official site, Grimsby aren’t ‘out of the woods yet’ but will benefit from the £130 000 Sky tv cash boost following televised Carling Cup games v Spurs and Newcastle.

Our chairman says the money is a boost but there is some way to go in order to clear the £720 000 owed to the inland revenue which we accrued as a result of the ITV digital collapse.

‘We have a repayment schedule to meet and we clearly have to keep up those payments. The Sky money is a massive boost to the overall debt but we are not out of the woods yet. The repayment schedule before us will take us sometime into next year. We’ve obviously got to keep up the good work and we hope that everybody continues to support the Keep the Mariners Afloat initiatives.’

They have also devised a way for fans to help. You can buy £1.00 shares in the club (with a minimum investment of £50).

The club explains: ‘That makes YOU a genuine, fully paid-up, part-owner of the Mighty Mariners! All that’s worth fifty quid for any Mariners’ fan & isn’t it?’ Shares can be bought in multiples of £50. To apply, send your details and cheque to ‘The Chief Executive, Grimsby Town FC, Cleethorpes, DN35 7PY’ Or apply via the official site link.
