Town Reserves drew with Hartlepool Reserves earlier today in the Pontins League Group Cup.

Hartlepool had taken a 2-0 lead at half-time but Town battled back to get a 2-2 draw, with goals from Jamie Clarke and Nick Hegarty.

Ryan Bennett, Danny North, Gary Jones and Peter Bore all started for the reserves has Assistant Manager Stuart Watkiss named a fairly strong side. But Town had a poor performance in the first-half with Michael Mackay scoring both the goals for Hartlepool.

Martin Young and Craig Gott had chances from set pieces but both shot over the bar.

Town had a chance when Bore fired a shot towards the Pools keeper, Arran Lee-Barrett, but was saved.

Town had a better second half with a shot from Bore that found the back of the net, only to be ruled of side by the linesman and then he had a header saved.

Hegarty had a shot on 57 minutes, when he was one on one with the keeper, but sent his shot wide. Josh Burge also had a shot that went over the bar.

Town then pulled a goal back with Jamie Clarke being the scorer and Hegarty got the equaliser, when he put the ball between the keepers legs.

Town failed to find a winner and the game ended all square.
