Grimsby Town Youth played Bradford City last Saturday and won 2-1.

The young Mariners took the lead on 20 minutes, after Steve Davis volleyed past the Bradford Keeper Matthew Convey.

Town were on the attack again and nearly scored when Leon Osborne`s shot went just wide

Steve Davis and Nathan Emson were causing Bradford`s defence problems, Davis got a flick on to put Emson through and Emson got a shot in but he sent it wide.

Town went into half time leading after some impressive play by the Youth`s and deserved to be in the lead.

Bradford altered things at half time and came out with a more attacking formation, and started to put pressure on the Mariners.

Bradford`s Brinsley Sheridan went down in the area and shouts of penalty went unheard has the referee waved play on.

Bradford`s Osborne fired a shot towards goal and it found the bottom left hand corner to give the Bantams an equaliser and put them back in the game.

After the goal Neil Woods, Town`s Head of Youth, decided to make changes with Josh Fuller being put behind the front two and Craig Parker came on at left back.

Fuller got his head to the ball, but was denied by a save from Convey. Before a cross from Burge was headed over by Mark Courtley.

Town had to be on the defence, when a shot by Osborne made Town`s keeper Leigh Overton, pulled of a fantastic flying save to knock the ball over.

Town scored the winner in the last 10 minutes, when Overton kicked long, and Bradford`s Aidie Davis allowed the ball to bounce and Davis got in to flick the ball into the path of Emson who then finished to give Town the winner.

Town: Overton, Lowe, Rhoades, Smith (Parker), Courtley, Thompson, Burge, Normington, S. Davis, Emson, Ali (Fuller).
