The Mariners travelled to Lincolnshire rivals Lincoln City with both clubs looking to pick up their first league win of the season but had to settle with a draw after taking the lead.

Nick Hegarty received an early booking for a foul.

Nathan Jarman got a shot in for the Mariners but it was saved by the Imps keeper Robert Burch.

Lincoln came close to scoring when they won a corner. Stefan Oakes sent the ball to the centre of the area and Lenell John-Lewis headed towards goal but the ball it the bar.

Lincoln won a free kick after a foul by Danny Boshell on Stefan Oakes. Oakes took the kick and found Dany N`Guessan and he got his foot to the ball but could not guide it towards goal and the ball was cleared.

Jarman looked to try and put the Mariners in front but sent the ball wide of goal.

Frank Sinclair then gave a free kick away for a foul on Jarman. Tom Newey stepped up to take the kick but could only guide it towards Burch who caught hold of the ball.

The Mariners then took the lead on 38 minutes when Danny Boshell found Peter Till and he put it into the top corner of the goal. LINCOLN 0 GRIMSBY 1.

John-Lewis then tried to put Lincoln back level but his shot went wide before Peter Till tried to extend the Mariners lead but a good save from Burch denied him his second goal.

As the game entered stoppage time Lee Frecklington tried a shot but Town`s keeper Phil Barnes managed to prevent it from going in before the half-time whistle blew and the Mariners took a lead into the break.


With only a minute gone of the second half, Paul Green looked to get an early shot in, but his effort from around 25 yards went wide.

Tom Newey then committed a foul on N`Guessan and was the second player of the game to be shown the yellow card.

Ben Wright got a shot in for the Imps but Barnes was there to catch hold of the ball and keep hold of the Mariners lead.

Town then won a corner that was taken by Boshell and he sent the ball to the far post but Frank Sinclair was there to clear it.

Lincoln were then given a corner that was taken by Frecklington and he sent it to the far post where John-Lewis got his head to the ball but could only send it wide.

Dany N`Guessan was the third player to be shown the yellow card for unsporting behaviour.

Peter Till got in the area to have another shot but the ball was blocked by Paul Green and ended up with Hegarty and he tried a shot and again it was blocked by Green.

Frank Sinclair was then booked for a foul on Peter Till before Lincoln made their first change when Kevin Gall was replaced by Sam Mullarkey

Sam Mullarkey was then fouled in the Town`s penalty area by Tom Newey. Frecklington stepped up and placed the ball in the bottom left to put Lincoln back on level terms. LINCOLN 1 GRIMSBY 1.

Grimsby made their first change with 12 minutes remaining when Simon Heslop was replaced by Chris Llewellyn.

The Mariners then made their second change a minute later when Danny North came on in place of Nathan Jarman.

With less than 8 minutes remaining Paul Green tried to put the home side in front but his attempt from around 25 yards went wide.

Both clubs made a change has the stoppage time drew nearer with Hegarty being replaced by Peter Bore for the Mariners and N`Guessan was replaced by David Graham for the Imps.

Janos Kovacs was shown the yellow card in stoppage time for a foul on Peter Till before the final whistle went to bring the game to an end.

Town will now be hoping to go one better and pick up a win when they face Chesterfield in the JPT on Wednesday night and then look to get their first win in the league at Gillingham on Saturday.
