Town joint bosses Paul Hurst and Rob Scott have further strengthened the Mariners squad for the 2011/12 season. Hopefully it is going to be good enough to challenge for promotion from the Blue Square Premier, either by the play offs or, better still, by finishing the season as champions.

S & H have added players within the spine of the team, and in particular the troublesome centre of midfield.

This is demonstrated by the capture of CRAIG DISLEY, an experienced former Bristol Rovers and, more recently, Shrewsbury Town midfielder (aged 29).
He is a player who has a wealth of experience in the football league, and he also has a fantastic engine and his tenacious qualilites will endear him to the Town fans. Craig (pictured above) has joined the Mariners on a two year deal.

The signing of Disley comes two days after the announcement of the Mariners signing of powerful front man DAMIAN SPENCER. The towering 6ft 1in striker, formerly of Bristol City and Cheltenham, arrives at Blundell Park on a one year deal.

Providing Alan ‘King’ Connell stays in Cleethorpes, that should complete the signings up front following the capture of striker LIAM HEARN from Alfreton.

Liam, who like Connell scored 30+ goals last season, won the Blue Square North Player of Year award in 2010/11.
The Alfreton chairman rates Hearn highly enough to have insisted in a sell-on clause in the transfer agreement.

With rumours of more exciting signings to follow shortly, and chairman John Fenty confirming that the negotiations for the impending signing of Boston United defender SHAUN PEARSON could soon to be completed, the squad is coming together very nicely indeed.

And with the joint managers stating that they are still pursuing the signatures of another keeper, defender and midfielder there could yet be another signing arriving through the gates of BP before pre-season training starts on Wednesday 29th June.
