Grimsby Town are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after the midweek action.

The performance by James McKeown in the one nil victory over Newport County in midweek at Blundell Park was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why McKeown was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘McKeown was on form at the weekend and was at it yet again on Tuesday, keeping a second successive clean sheet in the Grimsby goal. This time it was Newport County who couldn’t find a way past the stopper, who made a number of sterling saves in the Mariners’ 1-0 win.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to McKeown for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

James McKeown (Grimsby Town), Joe Bunney (Rochdale), Mark Roberts (Cambridge United), Zander Diamond (Northampton Town), Josh Morris (Scunthorpe United), Marlon Pack (Bristol City), Dominic Gape (Wycombe Wanderers), Josh Clarke (Brentford), Dwight Gayle (Newcastle United), James Vaughan (Bury), Jon Steadman (Notts County).

Manager – Chris Powell (Derby County).
