Grimsby Town are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by goalkeeper James McKeown in the one all draw with Luton Town at the weekend at Blundell Park was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why McKeown was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘After Manchester United recalled Dean Henderson from his loan spell at Grimsby last week, McKeown took his place back in the starting line-up. And how the stopper made the most of his opportunity, producing a fine last-gasp penalty save against Luton Town to earn the Mariners a point.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to McKeown for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the point.

Full Team:

James McKeown (Grimsby Town), Cheick Keita (Birmingham City), Jake Cooper (Millwall), Peter Clarke (Oldham Athletic), Michael Hefele (Huddersfield Town), Mitchell Dijks (Norwich City), David Vaughan (Nottingham Forest), John Fleck (Sheffield United), David Wheeler (Exeter City), Tom Lawrence (Ipswich Town), Matty Godden (Stevenage).

Manager – Phil Brown (Southend United).
