Grimsby are nearer to getting the go ahead for the new stadium at Great Coates after Town`s application was approved by North East Lincolnshire Council says Town`s Official Website.

Town can now submit their application to Government office in Leeds for authorisation. This has to be done due to the size of the retail quantity within the new 21,000 seater stadium.

Town do not have to actually buy the land but if they did it would make it financially high-priced but they do have the option for the authority to look at making a compulsory purchase order should there be any problems.

The application will now be sent to Government office next week for approval, a decision should be made within 28 days of receipt of the application, unless the Secretary of State that a public enquiry is to be held.
