Safe to say there is little love lost between the Mariners and Sheffield Wednesday, rivals borne of relegation battles, trouble and strife.

Yet Richard O`Donnell has been accepted, perhaps even on occasions seen as a godsend since his emergency loan at the beginning of last month. Kenny Athurs fractured wrist then necessitated the need for an extension of the loan to the full 93 days.

Making his debut in the televised game against Luton Richard made a solid start with 6 saves and a clean sheet. He then made six saves and conceded two goals against Tamworth and Fleetwood as we went down 2-1 in both matches. In fairness Richard was not at fault with any of them.

A second well deserved clean sheet came at Gateshead where he again made 6 saves, one world class, before he conceded two at Altrincham in a 2-2 draw. He made two great saves and a routine in this one followed by two good saves to ensure a moral boosting 2-1 win. Saturday saw his third clean sheet and a relatively quiet afternoon.
