Grimsby Town are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Shaun Pearson in the one nil victory over Hartlepool United at the weekend at Victoria Park was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Pearson was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘It was a weekend full of goals in the EFL, but Pearson and his Grimsby team-mates ensured there was to be no contribution from Hartlepool United. The Mariners defended doggedly in the second half to preserve a 1-0 lead, with Pearson making a superb goal-line block to frustrate the hosts.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Pearson for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.
