gaffer wants 50 points and survival

Southport FC manager Liam Watson wants 50 points and safety this season after winning the Conference North last year. Realism perhaps at a club with an average gate of 844 entering a Division with 8 clubs who could compete financially with the top half of League 2.

On the positive side Shaun Gray, Michael Powell and Ashley Winn have all signed new deals but thus far there has been just the one player in. Liam Blakeman, a familiar face has been lured back from AFC Telford United

Although Southport pipped Fleetwood to the title last year they have been left in the stalls by their counterparts this. That said just two years ago they were forced to return to semi pro so progress is being made. As the Sandgrounders nickname suggests these folk will not be easily trampled under foot.
