Former Preston defender Morgan is all set to leave the Imps this summer so he can be nearer his Manchester base with his family and for him to study a physiotherapy course at the city’s university.

Although under contract to the Imps, it was expected that the club would grant him a transfer to return to the North-West with Bury his likely destination with former Lincoln boss Keith Alexander now Director of Football at Gigg Lane.

However Town have now entered the scene with Alan Buckley looking for a centre back to provide competition for Justin Whittle and Nick Fenton, youngster Ryan Bennett isn’t yet thought to be ready for a full season.

Buckley signed Morgan for the Imps during his spell at Sincil Bank and the two are still thought to be in touch.

Although linked with the Mariners since the end of the season, it is only Morgan’s rumoured comments on a radio station that have sparked further talk with the 28-year-old stating Blundell Park as his preferred destination for the chance to link up with Buckley.
