Town`s chairman John Fenty along with the board of directors, Alan Buckley and the players all attended at a special civic reception that was held at Grimsby Town Hall on Monday.

The event was in honour of the recent trip to Wembley for the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy Final and was arranged by the mayor, Councillor Stewart Swinburn. Reports the Official Site.

The mayor spoke at the event and said: ‘I wanted to hold this civic reception so that I could say a personal thank you for all that you have achieved this season.

‘At the start of the season who would have predicted that we would have been enjoying a wonderful day out at the new Wembley Stadium.

‘We didn’t get the result that we wanted or the result I believe we deserved, but I can reassure Alan and the players that you never let the fans down.

‘So, on behalf of the 25,000 plus fans that support Grimsby Town and went to Wembley, I would like to take this opportunity to say a very, very big thank you.
