Ipswich Town midfielder, Liam Trotter, has had his loan deal with the Mariners extended for a further month.

Trotter joined Grimsby on an initial one month loan days after the departure of Alan Buckley and was due to return to the Portman Road club after the away trip to Exeter but it appears new manager Mike Newell and Ipswich assistant, Bryan Klug – Grimsby born and thought to have brokered the deal, have come to an agreement which will see him continue to play at Blundell Park.

Newell told the official site: ‘We haven’t seen the best of him yet and Ipswich think that it will do him good to stay here for a bit longer.’
