Official Statement

As event organiser i would just like to thank everyone for taking part in the charity fans match at Sincil Bank last night (6/05/09).

Although Lincoln deservedly won the game last night 2-1 (5-3 on agg) i special mention must go to the Grimsby players who gave it their all throughout the 90 minute, and obviously a quick mention for Jordan “sconeboy” Houlston for his goal of the game (He promised to donate an extra £5 for charity if i plugged his goal)

I’ll quickly get through the company’s and folk we need to thank so you don’t fall asleep by the third paragraph:

On the night the total raised we are pleased to announce was near the £350 mark, while we’re pleased to announce this total we must stress more money is set to follow through ticket sales and other means so a grand total shall not be announced until all is collected.

Although the event was a huge success the event in some terms was overshadowed by events on the pitch, we must stress that while playing for your clubs shirt the only thing you want to do is win. We have received 6 complaints regarding one player who picked up a booking, this player as since apologised for this and we feel this should be enough to draw a line under the matter.

Finally a big thank you to all who came out to Sincil Bank last night to support both set’s of fans, and espcially to all who put your hands in your pockets and donated towards the cause.
