Grimsby have today released the prices for the season tickets for the 2009/2010 season, along with a new match day price structure, a statement from the board:

‘The Chairman & Directors of Grimsby Town Football Club are delighted to announce that both season tickets together with the game by game prices will be Slashed for the 2009/2010 season.

Against the backdrop of the uncertainty of a recession and the recent proof that cheaper prices make all the difference to the support the club needs, the Directors have taken the unprecedented step of lowering prices across the board, something we believe no other club has done. It certainly is a gamble and we are hoping that you will prove us right!

Next season will see no season ticket over £300.00 at the full discount price. Prices have been pegged at that of the 2001/2002 season when the club was in the Championship.

After the incredible support we received towards the end of last term, we have been working flat out to try and find a sensible way forward and try and keep some (if not most) of those supporters who attended Blundell Park and cheered the Mariners to safety at the back end of that ‘unforgettable’ 2008/09 season.

Wouldn’t it be fantastic to see all the stands packed to the rafters with 7000 fans again? Bearing this in mind, we have decided to bring down the cost of season tickets to just £299 (2008/09 £323) for adults in the Upper Carlsberg & Main Stand and just £266 (£285) for The Pontoon or Lower Carlsberg, if purchased as a season ticket.

Juniors (aged 1-14) can watch at the massively discounted rate of £70.00 per season (any stand – that’s just £3 per match). The accompanied £20 junior which was introduced last season, has now been withdrawn from all stands except the Main Stand. The child free season ticket has now been replaced with a £20 ticket, for basic administration reasons.

In Summary.

The most expensive season ticket is down almost 13 per cent on 2008/9’s full price to less than £300 for the new season.

Junior tickets (£70) and student tickets (£110) have been frozen.

The Pontoon and Lower Carlsberg Stands will be £19 cheaper at £266 – a saving of £148 for the full season.

The Main and Upper Carlsberg Stands is now just £299 – saving over the season a fantastic £115.

Senior citizen season tickets will be initially on sale at £190.

These early bird offers will end on July 13.’

VAT has been reduced remember and that would automatically reduce prices.

Seems a bit pricey. £266 to watch Grimsby? Bang out of order.

For $266 pounds Grimsby couldn’t pay me to watch them.

Its a step in the right direction to attact the fans, but It can’t get much worse this season than the nail biter of the last one, had luton not been docked so many points, it’s a nightmare thinking about it.
