Woods Stalks York – Its Connell V Brodie

The first big Derby of the season sees a bubbling Blundell part welcome York for our first non league fixture for 100 years. And despite the 1-2 shock home reverse to Kidderminster Harriers on the opening day, York boast firepower aplenty.

Woods had the scouts at Bootham Crescent and they could not have missed keeper Michael Ingham`s performance, indeed he was at fault for both goals. Harriers first saw him rooted to the spot as Gittings shot went across him. York equalised through a Rankine penalty after Brodie had missed a hatful that he will doubtless bury on another day. Ingham then misjudged a corner which ‘Sods Law’ found its way into the far corner.

So despite the euphoria of a massive psycological win at Crawley, The Codfather is not counting his chickens. Woods will not take anything for granted and hopefully mix it up with a passing game on show along with getting our big lads in the box for Eagle’s set pieces. Word is Eagles will probably start tomorrow with ‘flowing fisheries football` the aim of the game tomorrow night. That suggests Coulson may move to the right with Bore at right back.

Alan Connell genuinely loves the Mariners and has a good record so far at Blundell Park scoring twice in two games, his first on his debut against Sheffield Wednesday.

Big crowd expected tomorrow with York bringing over a thousand.
