A Wrexham profile can never be complete without a financial one nowadys

Wrexham FC will hope former Derby and Aston Villa legend Dean Saunders can finally throw off the mediocrity of the two mid table Conference finishes, since the Dragons dropped from the league. Last season`s 11th was born more of a lack of firepower than defensive frailties although Saunders has to deliver this season you feel, funds permitting of course. Then again he needs to for everyone’s sake.

Since exiting administration the club is currently being bailed out to the tune of £1m a year by holding company, Wrexham Village. They effectively halved the clubs £11 million debt when they bought a chunk of land off the Dragons for £6 million in order to build a student Village. Last year (950 K) and this has seen the need for further seven figure subsidies.

In a week that has seen the Chairman explain the late filing of the accounts in a statement HERE 6’2′ ex Rangers and Hamiton Accies centre half Marvin Andrews, is set to sign pending international clearance. Saunders has boosted the firepower signing Andy Morrell from Bury and Kevin Gall from York with midfield maestro Dean Keates (Wycombe) providing the bullets. Stopper Scott Shearer has also joined from Wycombe.

The pressure is on Saunders to produce with Cambridge United first up.
