Saturday sees the biggest game for our club, with the Mariners making the long trek south to take on Bournemouth, in which many are dubbing the 1998 cup final replay just without the winners gaining a cup.

With the ground set to be full to capacity with a expectant following of 1300 ticketed Mariners and more fans expected without tickets, queues at turnstiles are expected so please arrive early.

Bournemouth fans are reminded that all home stands are completely SOLD OUT.

Fans are all being invited to the Queens Park Pub pre match and if results go to both clubs liking a ‘survival party’ will be taking place in the park near the pier.

The Mariners Newswire:

Grimsby are set to name an unchanged side that beat Port Vale 3-0, and will be looking to repeat the success of 98 by beating Bournemouth, but ultimately a draw should confirm both clubs league two status.

With the Mariners youth winning the league cup on Wednesday night double success – to an extent – would be a fantastic week for the Mariners travelling army after a very difficult season.

The travelling army will be backed by the band (drum and trumpet in tow) for this vital match, Vital Grimsby would like to pleed with anyone who doesnt want to join in with the singing, just clap along.

Fans are also reminded that people shall be dressing up in costume for this match, to add to that party atmosphere – please feel free to join in

Grimsby and Bournemouth are both battling for league two survival but our destiny could be in the hands of Aldershot, who take on Chester Fc.

If/when Aldershot beat Chester they will be relegated to the Conference joining already relegated Luton, while most people will be glued to goal updates on their mobiles with everything crossed, all corners of the ground are set to explode with cheering if the result goes in favour to Aldershot.

Could a mass pitch invasion be on, will all three stands be on the pitch? it will be the first time in recent history, that both clubs home and away invade the pitch, but given the occasion many see it happening.

Grimsby Vital View:

It’s been a long hard season for the Mariners, with only two games left, the above and Macclesfield at home next Saturday, we hope we will both be celebrating our clubs survival this week with Bournemouth. With the sun expected to be out, we hope all fans mix together and have a great day, while Chester get their conference place confirmed.

A poll on Grimsby vital – Who deserves to go down: Chester or Bournemouth showed incredible results with Chester the clear winners with 92%, many fans have turned against Chester after recent off the field scandals including players betting, and the whole PFA arrangement, which is still to be addressed – Well Chester enjoy the conference league, the majority have made it clear, you deserve it!

Vital Bournemouth View:

This weekends clash with Grimsby is one of the biggest games in AFC Bournemouth’s history. The win last weekend against Chester has brought the Cherries within touching distance of safety, a truly magnificent feat considering what this club has gone through over the past couple of seasons.

Off the pitch the pantomime continues. Ever since we went into administration over a year ago, the Cherries fans have been treated to various different acts and several encores, which currently doesn’t look close to a finish.

On the pitch, the points penalties last season and this have been well documented. To start the season 17 points adrift, following relegation by a single point last year after our initial ten point penalty was hard to take. This season we’ve gone through three managers. Kevin Bond was dismissed early on in the season, whilst Jimmy Quinn lasted just over 100 days in the job. The board turned to Cherries favourite Eddie Howe, who in turn turned to Cherries legend Steve Fletcher and ever since our expectations on the pitch have dramatically changed, which will hopefully result in our safety in League Two being secured on Saturday.

Ideally it would be nice for Chester to lose against Aldershot, so the
Grimsby fans can also join in the celebrations and with the news that the game is now sold out, the stage is set for what could be a memorable day!

A view shared by both vitals:

No matter what the results, we hope everyone as a fantastic day, fingers crossed for Aldershot Guys!!
