Montgomery joined Town on a one-year deal following his release from Rotherham, ending Buckley’s quest for a second senior goalkeeper at the club.
Buckley was impressed with the enthusiasm displayed by the 24-year-old, whilst highlighting his experience despite relative youthful age for a goalkeeper.
‘As a youngster he was highly-thought of and at 24 he still has a lot to offer,’ Buckley told the official site.
‘He has experience despite still being young for a keeper and I’m sure he will be a great asset to us.
‘Gary knows my plans too and he is very enthusiastic.
‘I think he feels he still has a lot to prove to make a name for himself and he is very hungry to succeed.’
