Buckley Says No To Morgan

Buckley has been linked with snapping up the centreback after he expressed a desire to leave the Imps this summer, although initially to return to his North-West base.

Earlier this week Morgan admitted he would welcome talks with Buckley, who signed him for the Imps in 2002 from Preston for a small fee.

Having established himself as one of League Two’s top defenders, the Imps would be reluctant to allow him to leave and it is thought head coach John Schofield only agreed because the player pleaded to return to his family and to study at Manchester University.

Despite strong rumours claiming Morgan was set to become a Mariner, Buckley has ruled himself out of a deal to snap up the 29-year-old.

‘I have not had any contact with Lincoln or Paul Morgan,’ he told the Grimsby Telegraph.

‘The short answer is no – there is no truth in that.’
