Widdowson joins the Mariners for an initial one-month loan has Mike Newell looks to improve the squad during the transfer window. Reports the official site.

He also found himself part of the West Ham team that went on a pre-season tour of the United States during last summer and was marking David Beckham in the Hammers 3-2 loss against MLS All-stars but before that played in the 3-1 win against Colombus Crew.

He has also been on loan at Rotherham where he made his debut for the Millers reserves against Leeds but was on the losing side.

He was expected to make his debut against Barnet on Saturday but due to a frozen pitch the game was called off and the Mariners fans will have to wait a bit to see Widdowson in action.

With the Mariners poor start to the season let`s hope that the second half sees a big improvement to the position we are currently in.
