Mariners boss Mike Newell is hoping to get Rob Atkinson on loan until the end of the season while the trying to secure the service of Adam Proudlock and Jean Paul Kalala who are currently on loan at Blundell Park.

Newell told the official site: ‘If we can do something permanently with at least two of them, that would be ideal

‘That would allow us to free up some loan signings between now and the end of the season. And you know you’ve got a bit of stability.

‘I know that the chairman will back us, as he has done previously.

‘It is important that we start afresh now. It is almost like the season is starting again.’

Newell is also going to be keeping an eye on former loanee Liam Trotter.

Newell went on to say: ‘He did really well while he was here and I think he will get better.

‘He’s one that we will keep an eye on and see if there is anything that we can do.

‘My understanding is that we can bring him back on a window to window loan.’

French midfielder, 21-year-old Kevin Tunani, is another player Town are looking at.

Tunani has been captain of the Bordeaux reserves team where he has been based.

Our boys (Chesterfield) have just signed Peter Till on loan, well deal to be comfirmed friday. Whats he like? We could do with a decent wide player after Darren Currie turned out to be the biggest waste of money ever
